Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida greeted South Korea's Prime Minister Han Duck-soo in Tokyo on Wednesday, a day after the state funeral for former leader Shinzo Abe.

Han was in Japan to attend the funeral on Tuesday to give condolences for the passing of Abe and also for damages from a typhoon that passed through Japan last week. The South Korean prime minister said the two countries are close neighbors with young people that want to understand each other. Last week, the leaders of South Korea and Japan agreed to accelerate efforts to mend ties frayed over Japan's past colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula as they held their countries' first summit talks in nearly three years on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.
