Landslide In Phakant: Two Backhoes And One Man Missing

The landslide occurred at gemstone mining plot in Phakant Township, Kachin State on Saturday night. The incident caused two backhoes and one man missing, according to the Phakant Township Police Commandant Office. As per report, at 8:45 pm on Saturday, the 500-ft high and 100-ft wide dump soil from the old mining site and its nearby 500-ft high and 100-ft wide dump soil collapsed into “Hsai In Wan” gemstone mining site near Kaung Hsan  village, Seik Mu  village-tract in Phakant township.

It buried two backhoes from “Saik In Wan” company together with driver Nay Aung-23  from Pha Ai village, Salin  township, Magway region. Rescue works are being carried out by officials from the company, fire brigade members, Seik Mu village administrative members and local social organization to search a missing man in the disaster.
