The public libraries service in West District has been changed through online to the public during the Covid-19 period.

To develop the human resources, the successful library service is playing an important role. So, the library service is changed into online to render the service to the public in line with the situation.

Head staff officer (IPRD), Yangon West District, Khine Phyo Lin said “We prepare hand-wash sanitizer for the people who visit to library. We also arrange the places 6 feet apart for the readers in library. Normally, we hire 3 books for each person, but we do 7 or 8 books during stay home period. We also arrange story telling program for the children through online every weekend. Our English class and painting class also go up online.”

During Covid-19 period, the public libraries in West District are opened normally.

Reader, Kyauktadar Township, Win Myint said “We can hire more books instead of three books. If we read at the library, we sit in line with social distancing. After touching the books, we wash the hands with hand gel. That is very ok.”

Currently, the library of West District has posted welcome to “Let’s help mom” progrmme as service for the Grade 8 and 9 students on the page of Community- based Centre.
