Lobster farming plays a significant role in the livelihood of people in the South Central provinces in Viet Nam. In the first two months of 2024, Lobster exports increased 18 times netting nearly 30 million USD according to data released by the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

Two types of lobsters such as blue lobsters and cotton lobsters are cultivated in the South Central provinces. Cotton lobsters have faced challenges since the middle of last year when China added them to the list of endangered wildlife species needing protection. Blue lobsters account for 75% of the annual production of approximately 4,000 tons.
