Macron encourages 'new generation agreement' on climate & trade in Brazil

At the Sao Paulo Economic Forum in Brazil, French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday said that he wants to rebuild the trade agreement between the European Union and the South American Mercosur bloc to put in place a new generation agreement during a visit to Brazil.

He added that to build a new agreement which is responsible from a development, climate and biodiversity point of view. The EU-Mercosur treaty aims to abolish the majority of customs duties between the two zones, thereby creating an area of more than 700 million consumers.
