Mandalay School for the Deaf is accepting the enrollment for the 2022-2023 academic year from May 26th to June 6th.

Children with hearing impairment will be accepted at the Mandalay School for the Deaf which is being operated by the Department of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

Principal, Mandalay School for the Deaf said "Both old and new students are enrolling this year. At our Mandalay School for the Deaf, we are accepting children from respective States and Regions as dormitory students. When new students come to apply at our school, we check them if they are actually deaf, unable to speak, and mentally well. Then, we accept them accordingly. We also notify the old students by phone calls that the school is opening soon. We notify the public through our Facebook page too."

The school is teaching the children with hearing impairment to develop their physicality, mentality and morality, as well as school education and vocational trainings in order for them to become flexible in society.

Principal, Mandalay School for the Deaf said "We teach children from KG to Grade 7 classes here. Students from Grade 8 to 11 will have to go to Basic Education High School No.(34) under the Ministry of Education. After learning at the high school, the teachers from here will explain the lectures in sign language to them in the evening. Since the children from this school are deaf, they have difficulties to learn at certain schools under the Ministry of Education. It is comfortable for them to learn in this school because we use sign language to teach them. "

It is learnt that the school is accepting children between the age of 6 and 18 no matter what their race and religion are.
