A ten-year-old boy and his mother were rescued 52 hours after being trapped under a collapsed building in southern city of Quanzhou, China's fire and rescue department said. The hotel which collapsed on Saturday was used as a medical observation spot for people travelling from regions hit by the new virus epidemic.

Authorities said the rescuers found a mother and her child in the rubble on Monday evening and after three hours of efforts, both were successfully rescued. The death toll from the collapse has risen to 11 by Monday afternoon. 50 people have been pulled out of the debris, local authorities said.
