Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe together with officials visited Maubin to conduct field trips to winter crop Mung bean cultivation that will be implemented in Ayeyawady region on Thursday.
During the trip, the Deputy Minister met cooperative society members, mung bean growers and departmental staff and called for plans to implement for agriculture sector development, cooperative plans, basic infrastructures for roads, bridges, access to electricity and water supply for rural development, increasing family income and improving socio-economic life of the people.
Officials explained about work programs for achieving green gram project with cooperative contract farming system and the benefits and plans for cultivation of Mung beans and coordinated essential for mung bean cultivation of local farmers and regional development.
At the Office of Cooperative Department in Maubin, the Deputy Minister met the staffs of the departments under the Ministry and called for cooperation and coordination among the departments/staffs to achieve the objectives and goals of the ministry, free from corruption and following covid-19 rules.
The Deputy Minister and party proceeded to Kyaik Lat township and discussed cultivation of winter crop mung bean in 392-acres of 89 village-tracts in Kyaik Lat township and fulfilled the needs on reports of farmers for regional development.
The Deputy Minister and party met the staff at the Rural Development Department Office in Kyaik Lat Township as well as Lutputta District and Township in Mawlamyaing Kyun and fullfilled the needs.
In the evening of that day, the Deputy Minister arrived in Eainme Township and met mung bean growers and discussed mung bean cultivation with cooperative contract farming system.
The Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development has planned to cultivate 45,855 acres of winter crop mung beans in 22 townships of Ayeyawady region.
