Myanmar New Year: Pre-Celebrations of Thingyan in Nay Pyi Taw

Among the traditional festivals annually held in Myanmar, Myanmar New Year Thingyan water festival is most special and significant one.

In order to be able to preserve, safeguard and love cultural heritages, to participate and celebrate as the seasonal festival and to serve the state’s duties with strength and unity by welcoming Myanmar New Year, this year Thingyan water festival is going to be held resoundingly.

To usher in the New Yearwith fresh and clear mind, Thingyan Festival is held to wash away the sins of the past year by splashing Thingyan water at each other. 

As the pre celebration of Maha Thingyan Water Festival, which is about to come by changing the period of 1384 ME to 1385, Thingyan Yein Dance troupe competitions are now being held at the respective ministries in Nay Pyi Taw.

The participant teams compete in the competition by dancing to the melodious Thingyan songs. The concerned departments make charity feasts and play water at each other.

As it is deeply symbolized the precious intangible cultural heritage of all ethnic groups in Myanmar, people are ready to celebrate the upcoming 4 days Thinygan water festival from 13th to 16th of April in a grand scale along with performing the meritorious deeds.
