National Standards: NSC Held Meeting (1/2022) in Nay Pyi Taw

The National Standards Council Meeting (1/2022) was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Nay Pyi Taw and Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw gave an opening remark.

The Union Minister said that the meeting was held with the members of the National Standards Council to discuss the completion status of implementation for the process of Myanmar Standards designation and Accreditation, which plays a key role in Myanmar's national quality infrastructure. The State aims to ensure the quality of both products and imports and to provide quality assurance in accordance with technical procedures with the relevant standards in production methods and services.

An effective national quality infrastructure system is being implemented to make products and services more competitive and to remove trade barriers in regional and international markets. Policies and guidelines regarding with the setting Myanmar standards and the accreditation to facilitate the development of Myanmar products, imports and exports will be laid down at this meeting and the discussions were held with the members of the National Standards Council.

The meeting was attended by members of the National Standards Council, Director-General and officials from the Department of Research and Innovation and approved 259 Myanmar Standards, restructuring technical sub-committees, establishment of National Quality Certification Board to improve the quality of products, production processes and services and the decisions on Myanmar Standards and Accreditation Required for the State were made, it’s reported.
