Non-Stale Robe Offering Ceremony: Traditional Festival held at Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay

The opening of the 34th Non-Stale Robe Offering Ceremony to Mahamuni Buddha Image was held at the pagoda platform on Sunday in the presence of Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and wife, Commander of the Central Command, Chief Justice of the State High Court, Region Ministers, Secretary of the Region Government and their wives as well as invited guests.

First, the Chief Minister and the Commander paid homage to Mahamuni Buddha Image and offered flower, water and gold foils. Then, the Chief Minister and officials cut the ceremonial ribbon to inaugurate the non-stale robe weaving and offering ceremony, viewed around the weaving processes of non-stale robes and warmly greeted the weaving artists, tailors and volunteer organizations.

Non-stale robe offering ceremony is held annually on a national scale, intending to revealing the ancient cultural heritage and exposing the art of rural culture. The weavers and tailors from YayKyiPauk Village, OhnTaw Village, Inle Region and KoeLoneTagar donated labor as contribution to charitable donation.

It’s reported that the woven robes will be offered to Mahamuni Buddha Image in the morning on full-moon day of Tazaungmone.
