56 student-inmates out of 86 passed the 2020 matriculation exams from Insein Prison Exam Center.
Among them, 34 student-inmates have passed with distinctions and the passing rate is 68.23%.
One of the student-inmates expressed thanks for the support of the responsible persons from the prison.
Student, No.13 Branch Middle School, Insein Prison, Sitt Paing Htoo "I passed the matriculation exams with 4 distinctions in Mathematics, History, Geography and Ecology. I was very happy with the news that I passed the exams. I am also satisfied that I can bring honour for all the officials, staff and teachers from the Prison and also my family who supported me for achieving this success."
The prison has the teacher-inmates as well as the volunteers and the teachers assigned from the Ministry of Education.
The good passing rate has been achieved every year due to the support of the responsible personnel, one of the teachers expressed.
Instructor, Thaw Zin Than Htay "I teach Mathematics and History. Most of the students have many requirements. They need to give more time for studying. And we also have difficulties in language. Since they have enough time here, we let them study regularly. I'm really happy for their achievement."
The Prison Department provides all the necessary items including textbooks, exercise books and stationery.
The Department also create a favourable environ for the student-inmates to learn their lessons with peace of mind.
Director, Prison Department, Yangon Region, Zaw Zaw said "We allow those who wish to make studying according to their own will. We provide them with school uniforms and arrange a private space for studying. They don't need to do any other services but to study."
A total of 178 student-inmates sat for 2020 matriculation exams at the prisons across the country, and 108 have passed the exams.
