Ouch! - contestants in Peru slap each other to victory

Sixteen contestants took to a stage in Lima on Saturday to slap themselves silly and find out who could deliver the biggest smack at Peru's first ever Extreme Slapping Contest. In order to win, contestants must not pull away prior to being smacked. A contestant is automatically out of competition if he passes out due to a slap. One man was walloped so hard he passed out on stage. The prize for the winner is USD $296.

The event's organizer said extreme slapping started in the United States and became popular in Russia and spread globally from YouTube and social media.
