Peace Talks: SG Receives SSPP Peace Delegation in NPT

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the peace delegation led by Vice-Chair (1) of the Shan State Progress Party-SSPP Sao Khur Tai at BayintNaung villa in Nay PyiTaw on Thursday.
On the occasion, the Senior General clarified peace-making efforts to cease the internal armed conflicts through successive eras and the Tatmadaw’s endeavors to achieve multi-party democracy in the right tract. According to the democracy, everyone has the right for freedom of opinion and freedom of speech but it should be grounded in the rule of law.
The Senior General discussed that the rights and needs of ethnic nationals must be raised in peaceful approach in accordance with the law. He also discussed more participation of ethnic nationals in the highest political podium of Hluttaw Parliament so that they could raise ethnic affairs and their rights in line with the law in democratic system. He called for pragmatic discussion with farsightedness for the benefit of the Union while the ethnic armed organizations should discuss necessary things that should be done for their respective areas and the country.
He also discussed matters on practicing multi-party democratic system in conformity with the people’s desire and building the Union based on democracy and federalism.
The SSPP Vice-Chair (1) and party said they will continue to participate actively in the peace dialogue. For the development of Union in future, all ethnic nationals must strive together with unity. He also expressed his same opinion to achieve multi-party democracy and building the Union based on democracy and federalism. He also discussed matters relating the regional development. Both sides also frankly exchanged views on peace issues and regional development measures.
After the meeting, the Senior General presented commemorative gifts to the SSPP Vice-Chair (1) and party who returned domestic gifts. The delegation led by Vice-Chair (1) of the Shan State Progress Party-SSPP will continue peace talks with the Peace Talks Team and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee formed with the SAC members.
