PM Kishida upbeat on national election prospects

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed his confidence and determination on Thursday in his bid to win Japan's national elections set for 31st October.

Kishida mentioned his "trustful relationships'' with other world leaders and the fact that his time in office as a foreign minister has been the longest in Japanese history since the end of World War Two. On Thursday, Kishida dissolved the lower house of parliament, paving the way for the elections which will be the country's first of the pandemic.
