Pollution in northern Jakarta during prolonged dry season

Plastic waste covers a beach while the water level of a main river in the Indonesian capital has significantly decreased through the tropical nation's prolonged dry season. "Most of us here are fishermen with smaller boats that are used to fishing just around here. But the waste has make the fishes gone further away," saysa local fisherman.

The dry season has affected the people, especially on clean water. It is hard to get clean water in the coming weeks if there is no rain. Searing heat intensified by global warming has affected tens of millions of people in parts of Europe, Asia and North America in Julyaccording to the UN.
