Promoting Decent Life: Vocational Trainings For People With Disabilities

The School for the adult disabled(Yangon) under the Department of Social Welfare will open vocational trainings such as electronic, sewing, haircut, photography, computer and printing courses to people with disabilities aged between 18 to 45 years from 12th September.
Such kind of training school is the only one in Myanmar and it is opening 6 kind of vocational courses thrice a year according to each financial year with the aim for people with disabilities to be able to stand self-reliantly in their life.
KhinKhinSoe, Principal, The School for the adult disabled said “The school is conducting the courses for people with disabilities depending on their disability skills. We conduct 6 courses as the vocational education. Of them, electronic course is one year course and it is conducting now with 6 trainees. Sewing, hair cutting, photography, computer and printing courses are 3-month courses.”
The trainees from all part of the country attend the courses. This time, 60 trainees are expected to attend the courses.
KhinKhinSoe, Principal, The School for the adult disabled said “Students are accepted in the school dormitory. We also provide round trip expense with the Department of Social Welfare Fund. We train not only the vocational education but also social dealing to them.”
Currently, 60 applications of disabled persons have been accepted and the vocational trainings will be conducted practically and theoretically.
