Pyongyang celebrates Day of Victory

People in the Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK) held activities on Saturday to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement. That marked the end of the three-year Korean War. The agreement was signed on July 27, 1953, and since then, the DPRK set the date as the Day of Victory. Festive decorations were put up in Pyongyang, capital of the DPRK.

At the Mansudae Square, people presented flowers to the statues of the late DPRK leaders, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Art performances, lectures and film exhibitions were also held in honor of the day. The Day of Victory is also a public holiday.
