Raising Awareness: Educative Talk Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking

An educative talk against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was held on Tuesday at No.1, Basic Education High School in Latha Township of Yangon.

Under the guidance of Yangon Region Government, the talk was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Myanmar Anti-Narcotics Association (MANA). It aims to raise awareness on risks and dangers of using drugs and drug addiction among the students.

At the talk, Sayar U Sein Myint and Sayar U Aung Kyi Nyunt delivered the speeches focus on the consequences of using narcotics and shared the valuable knowledge to the students.

Joint Secretary, MANA, Sein Myint said “I will talk about the consequences of using narcotics with the aims of no drugs among the youths and even within our country. Meanwhile, 8 millions of youths are in hands of teachers and the other 8 millions of youths are on roads. So, we need to make more educational talks not only in schools but in all sectors for all civil servants.”

Committee Member, MANA, Aung Kyi Nyunt said “Drugs are knocking to the families’ doors at present. And also they are threatening to the country. From there, the students and youths are being victims as their major target. That’s why we will talk more to protect the distractions from family, education and our country.”

This is the second educative talk against drug abuse and illicit trafficking held in schools of Yangon West District. The first was is in a school of Kyaukdata Township.

Magician Mr. Top and his son Herry staged drug-related magic show aiming to raise the students’ interest.

Magician, Mr. Top said “We recognize, this is our national duty. Such kind of Educative talks against drug abuse and illicit trafficking are so much needed for all students across the country. That’s why I’m here participated by hand.”

Through the talk, students will know more about the dangers of drugs and also to reduce the using of drugs.

Student, Hein Pyae Kyaw said “We all students do not need to use Narcotics. And Medicines are needed for all of them. But narcotics are destroying our lives in name of bad medicine. And I think, these talks make develop our brighter future with say no to drugs.”

Yangon Region Government is going to make such kind of educative talks in 32 schools of Yangon West District, collaboration with MANA and Entertainment programs.
