Rehabilitation Measures: Dy. PM inspects work undertakings in Rakhine State

Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San and Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, together with the Rakhine State Chief Minsiter, the Deputy Ministers and officials, donated rice and offertories at five monasteries in Sittwe on Sunday.

They also inspected the damages caused by the cyclone and provided assistance for speedy renovation tasks. They later arrived at Sittwe Jetty and unloading of relief items from Navy vessel Pyi Taw Aye. The relief items included 12,250 rice bags, 800 zinc sheets and chain saws. 

Among the, 2,540 bags of rice will be transported to Rathaetaung and Maungdaw by a vessel. The Deputy Prime Minister and party later proceeded to Ponnakyun and viewed the health treatment activity by the Specialists from Tatmadaw and the Ministry of Health. He also provided instant noodle packages to the people who came to receive treatment. At the Technical Schools for Nationalities Youths from Border Areas, they inspected the cleaning works at the damaged buildings and renovation works.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the community elders in Sittwe. He said renovation works are being carried out as per priorities. He called for cooperation of local people in the rehabilitation works. Lt-Gen TunTun Naung also explained the efforts for achieving peace and stability and development in Rakhine State, rehabilitation works in the IDP camps and cleaning works at the cyclone affected areas.

The Chief Minister also explained the evacuation measures before the cyclone, relief and rescue measures being carried in the cyclone hit areas. The attendees also reported on the cooperation works for rehabilitation works. In the evening, the Deputy Prime Minister attended a work coordination meeting for rehabilitation works, held at the State Government Office.

He instructed for systematic transportation of relief items as per the set standard of load, speedy arrival of relief items to the designated places, condition of providing health care services and providing the construction materials according to the priorities.
