Road connection Laos to Viet Nam closed temporarily

Laos has temporarily closed National Road No. 8, which leads to Viet Nam's central province through the Namphao international border gate of Laos, since Friday due to serious flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains.

This has disrupted traffic in some spots along the border. The two sections stretching 18 kilometers in total have been closed, leaving many people and vehicles unable to travel through. Local authorities are focused on clearing the road as soon as possible and have suggested vehicles take alternate routes while the situation is being addressed.
