Rural Road Development: DRRD hands over the lists of rural roads and funding

The Magway RegionDepartment of Rural Road Development (DRRD) of the Ministry of Cooperatives andRural Development handed over rural road list and 2022-2023 fiscal year budgetlists to the Department of Highways of the Ministry of Construction on Tuesday.

At the event, the Magway Region Transportation Minister Col. Lin Htut said thatabout 70 percent of the nation population rely on agriculture and livestock fortheir livelihood.

In order to transport and trade the local products of ruralpeople within a short period, it needs to develop rural roads and bridges.

The DRRDand the Department of Highways are urged to carry out harmoniusly for thedevelopment of rural infrastructures in the region.

Later, Magway RegionMinister for Economic Affairs U Aung Chain said that the DRRD constructed 4,322-mile rural road and 1,743 bridges and about 170 billion kyats of the Union and Region/State budgets were spent. Out of roads and bridges being undertaken by the DRRD in Magway region, over 2,451-mile long roads and 154 bridges, the budget expenditures of 2022-2023 fiscal year and the tender documents were handed over to the Department of Highways.
