SAC Chairman in Mon State: New state court building opened in Mawlamyine

Chairman of the State Administration Council [SAC] Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening of the new Mon State court building on Tuesday in Mawlamyine.

There, Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo and many other officials began the opening ceremony. And, the Senior General opened the new court building as planned. He also toured the new court building, where concerned officials gave a briefing. During the 2nd part of the opening, Union Minister for Construction explained information on the new court building and handed over related documents to the Union Chief Justice.

Also, the Union Chief Justice presented a marble painting to the Senior General to commemorate the opening of the new Mon State court building. In his remarks, the Senior General stressed that amending and repealing the laws and by-laws which are unsuitable with the modern period and enacting new laws and by-laws are in progress. The role of law enforcement is an important pillar and an indispensable aspect for the daily social security of people.

He also highlighted the phrase ‘No one above the law’. It is important for the judiciary to be trusted by the public. Being free from corruption and able to make accurate and quick decisions are important. Justice is a matter of infallibility and it is necessary to punish the guilty and not to punish the innocent. The Senior General called for efforts for rule of law which is the basis of democracy.

After the new court building opening, the Senior General, at the Mawlamyine Airport, heard report on the ongoing airport upgrade works, plan to build an international airport and the ongoing Mawlamyine-Yay railway upgrade. In his response, the Senior General said that plans are underway to move the Mawlamyine Airport to a new location and it is being planned to build an airport where all types of aircraft from local airlines can land, which can contribute to the development of Mon State and Kayin State. He also gave guidance regarding the Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yay railway and the Mawlamyine-Dawei railway.
