Hundreds of South Koreans gather outside of the historical Seodaemun Prison in Seoul on Friday to mark the 105th anniversary of the Independence Movement against Japanese colonial rule.

This event commemorates the unified protest of Koreans against Japan's colonial rule, a pivotal moment in Korea's struggle for sovereignty and independence. President Yoon Suk Yeol said in his address that South Korea and Japan are partners in the pursuit of global peace and prosperity as they work to overcome their "painful past" and move toward a new future.
