Special Economic Zone Management: Central Committee of Myanmar SEZ Organizes Its Meeting

The Central Committee for Myanmar Special Economic Zone organized its meeting 1/2021 at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw through virtual system on Monday.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Central Committee, Union Minister for Commerce Dr. Pwint Hsan said that it needs to be carried out the contracts and agreements that were signed for the progress of the zones and future tasks in line with international procedures.

Among Thilawa, Kyauk Phyu and Dawei Special Economic Zones, the tasks of Thilawa special economic zone are operated successfully.  Thilawa special economic zone A is being undertaken and Zone B is ongoing process by phase by phase. Until the end of December 2021, there were 122 factories and the total investment value was over 2,149 million US dollars.

Currently, 102 factories are under operation and Thilawa Special Economic Zone is developing. The Union Minister also pointed out that Kyauk Phyu Economic Zone and deep port project needs to be implemented speedily as it can create job opportunities for the locals and benefit to the economic development of the State.

Members of the Central Committee and the Chairmen of Special Economic Zone Management Committee took advice for the implementation of speical economic zones. The Central Work Chairman, Vice Chairman and members approved the detail reports of respective zones.
