Storm Daniel sweeps eastern Libya, hundreds feared dead

Hundreds of people are feared dead in eastern Libya after heavy flooding caused by Storm Daniel swept away entire neighborhoods. The storm killed at least 150 people in the eastern city of Derna after water levels rose as high as 3 meters.

Osama Hammad, the eastern-based prime minister of Libya, said that 2,000 were feared dead in Derna and thousands others were reported missing. Derna has been declared a disaster zone and become inaccessible. Other affected areas include the cities of Benghazi, Susa, Bayda and Al-Marj.
