Summer Basketball Challenge: Presenting Award Ceremony took place on 2nd June

A ceremony to present awards for the U-25 men and women 2023 summer basketball invitational competition was held on 2nd June. The competition was held for 10 days from 24th May to 2nd June.

Vice Chairman, Mg Mg Myint, Myanmar Basketball Federation said "The U-25 men and women 2023 Summer basketball invitational competition is held annually in summer. But the event has been postponed due to the scorching heat during summer. We can only organize the event in early rainy season. 29 men and 7 women teams participated in the competition. The federation assists 100,000 kyats to each team from other regions and states."

The competition was organized with the aims to turn out new generation of athletes and to be able to participate in the SEA Games competitions.

Sagaing Region team won against Yangon Region team in the women’s final event while Yangon (A) team won against Taunggyi (A) team in the men’s final event.

Athlete, Kyaw Lwin Oo said "I participated as the representative of Yangon Region and all athletes are the best players. I won prize in this U-25 men competition because I put a lot of effort during training period. I go to the Gym on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and I play basketball on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday."

Athlete, Mya Hnin Hmone said "I come from Inn Thaw Township but I participated as a representative for Sagaing Region. I’m very happy being a first prize winner and I was surprised for that."

It is learnt that 500,000 cash award were presented for first, 300,000 kyats for second and 200,000 kyats for third prizes in women competition and 600,000 kyats for first prize, 400,000 kyats for second and 300,000 kyats for third prizes in men competition. The best athletes were also presented prizes at the ceremony. Moreover, the honorary cash awards were also presented to the winning teams.
