Kicking off an SDG Action Weekend, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres spoke at the opening of plenary of the SDG Mobilization Day. Guterres said that this week, global leaders are gathering in New York to discuss their plans and priorities for the future.

The UN chief reiterated that the Sustainable Development Goals are in trouble, adding that only 15 per cent of the targets are on track, with many going into reverse.

He highlighted, “The SDGs need a global rescue plan,” adding that “Monday’s SDG Summit will be the moment for governments to come to the table with concrete plans and proposals to accelerate progress. The SDG Action Weekend consists of the SDG Mobilization Day on Saturday and the SDG Acceleration Day on Sunday at UNHQ in New York.
