Tourism Development :MOHT Union Minister meets Tourism Training Schools

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khaing met with the trainers conducting tourism-related subjects via online on Friday morning. During the meeting, the Union Minister stressed that the tourism sector has been rapidly recovering across the world after the COVID-19 pandemic, and 320 million jobs, accounted for 1 in 10 jobs worldwide are related to tourism industry, according to the statistics of the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Also in Myanmar, there are almost 1 million jobs related to tourism sector, she added. The Union Minister emphasized the need to create human resources to support tourism sector development and called for collaborative efforts to those working in the tourism industry and its relevant organizations.

She said that the subjects, lessons and curricula conducted by the training courses are necessary to be adaptive teaching to meet the requirements of the tourism industry and to use the ASEAN curriculum.  The Union Minister reiterated that hotel staffs have to become those who have completed hotel service courses and have hospitality certifications.

She urged all trainers to cooperate for human resource development of hospitality sector, ensuring quality assurance. The Director General of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism and attendees made sector-wise discussion. Then, the Union Minister fulfilled the needs upon the presentation and gave a closing remark.
