Bago Region Government organized the Chief Minister’s Cup U-18 men and women track and field sports competition, and the final events of the competition and awarding ceremony took place on 28th September.
The Regional Department of Sport and Physical Education invited the athletes of aged 18 and under18 years old from 28 townships in Bago Region to compete in the competition.
Myint Khine, Director, Sports & Physical Education Department (Bago) said “Starting from this year, the head office announced various types of sport competitions in the sport calendar for the athletes to make preparations. In the final competition of track and field event, 100-kilometer men and women, 400-kilometer men and 100-kilometer women will take part. The athletes must have the desire to compete.”
Over 380 athletes from 28 townships took part in the competition, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the winners for individual men and women and mixed events of track and field competitions.
Chit Su Mar, Athlete, ShweTaung Township Representative said “I competed in 200 and 400-meter event. I won gold medals for both events. I have been playing track and field sport since I was 13 years old. I join the training every morning from 6 am to 8 am. I want to be a national selection athlete.”
Aung Kyaw Htet, Athlete, Phyu Township Representative said “I played 1500,800 and 400-meter events, representing Phyu Township. I won 2 gold medals for 1500 and 800-meter events. I want to be a good track and field athlete.”
Among the winners, the selection will be chosen to compete in the region and state U-18 track and field sport competition, and the selected athletes will have to undergo camp training in Phyu Township.
