Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Bonnie caused floods in El Salvador on Saturday that resulted in the death of one person, as well damage to homes and streets.

Civil Protection authorities said a 24-year-old woman died in the municipality of San Martín, east of the capital. Authorities have declared a yellow alert in 12 municipalities in the coastal zone.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami warned that the southern part of El Salvador will continue to be affected by heavy rain.
