Turkish President met with Hungarian Prime Minister

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Budapest at the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on 20 August. They discussed between the two countries relations. The two sides also discussed Turkiye's full membership in the European Union, as well as regional and international issues.

The Hungarian and Turkish authorities signed an agreement on the purchase of 275 million cubic metres of gas. He attended the celebrations of Hungary's national holiday, St Stephen's Day. Later, Erdogan will attend part of the World Athletics Championships and a fireworks display commemorating the founding of Hungary.
