Unite and Invest in Prevention: 16 days of activism against gender-based violence

In a ceremony held in Dawei of the Taninthayi Region on Saturday, Chief Minister U Myat Ko delivered a speech under the theme "UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls" as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

During the event, Chief Minister U Myat Ko highlighted the efforts of the Regional Committee on Women in implementing initiatives for the development of women, ensuring they enjoy their full rights in alignment with the 4 policies and 12 action plans set forth by the National Committee on Women. He pointed out that the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (2013-2022), with the drafting of its Phase II underway.

To address the immediate needs of victims of gender-based violence, plans are underway for the establishment of a One Stop Women Support Center in Dawei, aiming to provide temporary shelter and caring services.

Chief Minister U Myat Ko called on the NGOs and related entities to intensify their efforts in preventing violence against women. The event also featured the screening of a video clip aimed at raising awareness for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, followed by the entertaining programs.
