US House passes Israel aid package

The US House of Representatives has passed a bill to provide emergency aid worth 26.3 billion dollars to Israel.

The bill was passed with broad bipartisan support with 366 in favor and 58 against on Saturday. The funding will reportedly be used to strengthen Israel's air defenses and expand its ammunition production capacity, as well as for humanitarian aid.

Once the bill passes the Senate, President Joe Biden will sign it into law.US lawmakers had been calling for immediate aid for Israel amid criticism over the rising civilian death toll in the Gaza Strip.
