Venezuela marked the 200th anniversary of the Carabobo independence battle on Thursday with a military parade in the absence of President Nicolas Maduro. Hundreds of soldiers and tankers passed through the Carabobo Field's long track, where the decisive independence battle took place. It is a significant date for the socialist government, which has been announcing this day for many years, when the late President Hugo Chávez was still in power. However, the economic crisis was evident in the sober celebration, which was not attended by the president.
