Indonesia's president Joko Widodo on Tuesday called on all citizens to remain united, vigilant and alert in the face of crises caused by the conflict in Ukraine and coronavirus pandemic.
In his address on the eve of the country's independence, Widodo told that world geopolitics threatens regional security and the global economy was still on the mend from the COVID-19 pandemic when crisis broke out in Ukraine causing food, energy and financial concerns.
Widodo said his administration has made efforts to overcome the worst pandemic in recent memory as the world's fourth-most populous nation managed to record a positive growth of 5.44% in the second quarter. Two thirds of the 711 lawmakers and senators were in Parliament for the speech.
