World Elephant Day: Elephants Enjoy Buffets Of Fruits And Vegetables On World Elephant Day

A ceremony marking the World Elephant Day which falls on 12th August was commemorated at the Palin Kanthaya Elephant Camp and Hmaw Yaw Gyi  Elephant Camp near west Palin village in Nyaung U Township, Mandalay region.

In-charge of the elephant camp and officials treated buffets of feeds to the elephants. The World Elephant Day was firstly celebrated by two Canadian filmmaker Patricia Sims and Thailand’s Elephant Reintroduction Foundation on 12th August, 2012 with the aim to conserve the elephants in the world.

Now, there are nearly 70 nations of the Wildlife Organizations who are supporting the World Elephants Day. The celebration was held in 22 elephant camps opened in the respective Regions and States by treating buffets to avoid from mass gathering.

The elephants were served with the buffets of pine apples, water melons, bananas, cucumbers, pumpkins, mangoes, sugarcanes and other feeds.
