Al-Sultan Abdullah completes his five-year reign as the 16th King

Al-Sultan Abdullah will end his five-year reign as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia on 30th January. The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim who will ascend to the federal throne as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 31st January. It has been five years since his Majesty led the country as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Malaysia will witness a very significant moment in the history of constitutional monarchy in the country with two important ceremonies taking place within 48 hours, highlighting the uniqueness of the rotation system of Malay monarchs which has been practiced since 1957.
