Argentina's President Javier Milei made his first policy speech at the National Congress in Buenos Aires on Friday. Milei vowed to "speed up" his plans to overhaul the country and solve its economic woes, challenging them to pass a new package of bills. The speech underscored Milei's determination to push ahead with divisive economic reforms and austerity measures that have boosted markets, and pushback among lawmakers.

Milei, a 53-year-old political outsider, won a resounding election victory last year.Since taking office in December, many of his planned reforms are being challenged in court, with more than 60 lawsuits under way by labor unions, business chambers and NGOs.
