Awarding Ceremony: MTTF holds Men’s Singles Event

The attractive final match of China-Myanmar Friendship Men’s Singles Table Tennis Event together with prize awarding ceremony continued at Thuwunna Indoor Stadium 1 in Yangon. At the occasion, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Region Government Ministers and party including Chairman of China-Myanmar Friendship New Year Celebration Convening Committee, Chairman of Myanmar Table Tennis Federation together with the spectators enjoyed the competitive sports game of the two players. After ending off with final scores, the first prize winner was deservedly emerged. At the awarding ceremony, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thien presented honorary prizes to the Champion.

Champion , Aye Khaing (Wow Sports) said " I had to try hard and didn’t expect that much. Basically, my performance here is 1 to 4. In the previous BIO Cup Tournament, I’ve only satisfied with third prize, also second prize in the Championship event.  This is my first time wining Champion at Open Level. I competed 7 matches until final. Initially, I won the whole matches but faced some difficulties when the matches come 1 to 16, 1 to 8. At final, I won with 1 of 4."

At the Open Invitational Table Tennis Men’s Singles Tournament, out of 118 players from regions and states, 8 players for Round of 16, 4 players for Quarter Finalists, 2 for Joint Third Prize, second prize winner and champion were awarded by the officials individually.

Second Prize Winner , Kyaw Khant Naing (Bahtoo Club) said " At first, I thought to be at only Quarter Finalists, but so happy for being at final. I tried my best. I’ve been playing Table Tennis for almost 11 years and training at Mandalay Bahtoo Club. Since I came here from Mandalay, I had some difficulties, but I am so happy for winning second prize. I am also trying to be able to participate in SEA Games. "

Organized by Myanmar Table Tennis Association, One-Day Men’s Singles Event celebrating the 2024 year of the Dragon, was held in order to turn out new generation athletes having strong sportsmanship spirit along with promoting Table Tennis sports among the public.
