Colombia’s four-day-long annual Barranquilla carnival kicked off on Saturday. The streets are filled up with carnival groups wearing colorful costumes, joyously marching during 'Battle of Flowers' parade. The annual carnival celebration, held in the Colombian port city of Barranquilla, was declared as the tradition of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2003 by UNESCO.

It is one of Colombia’s most important folkloric celebrations and dates back to the 1880s. The four-day celebration full of color, music, dance, incredible costumes, electric parades and street parties, resembles the Rio Carnival, but with a Caribbean twist.
