Basketball competition: Mon State CM gave at opening speech

With the aims at turning out the new generation of athletes in Mon State and uplifting the role of sports and youth, the opening ceremony of 2023 Mon State Chief Minister’s Cup 10 townships U-25 Men Basketball competition was held at the State Sports Hall in Mawlamyaing Township in the morning on 4th December with the attendance of Chief Minister U Aung Ky Thein, State ministers, departmental officials, coaches of the teams and contestant athletes.

After the athletes taking their places, the Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein gave and opening speech stressing to uplift the public participation in the sport activities, health of the entire nation with the plans to improve the standard of sports and encouraged the athletes to make exerted efforts to step up to the national selection level from the State selection level.

After vowing the sport’s resolutions, the athletes departed from the sport ground. The Chief Minister awarded cash prize of honor to the No (8) Basic Education High School band and a group of signboard bearers and enjoyed the opening match played by Team Chaungson Township and Team Thaton Township. The 2023 Mon State Chief Minister’s Cup 10 townships U-25 Men Basketball competition will be held to 8th December, it’s learnt.
