China's deepest geothermal well drilled to 5,200 meters

China's deepest geothermal exploration well completed drilling in the country's southern island province of Hainan, reaching depth of 5,200 meters, petrochemical giant said on Monday. It set a new record for the deepest geothermal exploration well in China, according to the company.

The successful drilling of the geothermal exploration well revealed the formation of geothermal energy in South China, and will aid in enhancing the large-scale development and utilization of geothermal resources in the region.
