Dragon Boat Festival celebrated across China

People across China celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival on Thursday by holding a series of exciting activities. The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.

This year's festival falls on Thursday. It is held to carry on traditional Chinese culture. The dragon boat races were the most exciting events during the festival. Zongzi, usually pyramid-shaped, is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. Chinese people eat this sticky food to mark the Dragon Boat Festival every year.
