Fabricated news on social media claimed that 20 houses were destroyed in Taung Khamauk Village of Paungte in Bago Region due to an arson attack by the Tatmadaw.

A local security officer asserted that there were no security operations by the security forces near the said village. Instead, the officer claimed that PDF terrorists set fire to the houses in the village before fleeing. In another incident, Khit Thit Media reported the death of 8 locals and 12 injuries due to an explosion of heavy weapons launched by the Tatmadaw in Yay Phyu Kan Village of Nyaung Lay Pin in Bago Region.

In response to this news, a local security officer claimed that a combined team of insurgents and PDF terrorists launched drop bomb attacks on Yay Phyu Kan Village on 5th January, resulting in casualties among the innocent residents.

The insurgents and PDF terrorists committed murder, arson attacks, and extortion. To cover their terrorist acts and create misunderstanding about the Tatmadaw among the public, illegal and destructive media outlets are disseminating fake and false news on social media platforms.
