Fake news spread by illegal and destructive media outlets claimed that a Tatmadaw vessel, docking at Myinkaseik in Kangyidaunt of Ayeyawady Region, was recruiting over 40 youths for military service. According to locals, no military vessel docked at Myinkaseik Village, which is always crowded with motorboats and ships transporting rice to Pathein, Yangon, and other towns.

Similarly, rumors are spreading that faculties and students from Pathein University are being asked to serve in the military. Another rumor spreading is that 35 youths from villages in Patheingyi Township of the Mandalay Region were arrested for military service. These subversive media outlets aim to instigate panic among the public with fabricated news.

To raise awareness about the People’s Military Service Law, the Information Team of the State Administration Council has provided clarification through state-owned media. Moreover, contact numbers for inquiries regarding the law have already been provided, and it is reported that no unlawful actions were committed.
