"Golden Birdwing" postal stamp: A new postal stamp issued on the 1st of February

A new "Golden Birdwing" postal stamp was issued by Myanmar Post, under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, on February 1st.

This stamp commemorates the butterfly species discovered in Myanmar, and the 200 kyats postal stamp will be available starting at 9:30 am on February 1st at Nay Pyi Taw Central Post Office, Yangon Post Office, Mandalay Post Office, as well as post offices in various regions and states.

U Than Shwe , Alone Township, said " I started collect postage stamp when I found out that they can provide lots of general knowledge, how to use money and can inherit to our next generations. In a new "Golden Birdwing" postal stamp, we can get knowledge of butterfly species, their inhabitat and scientific names. And, we can get many advantages in preservation of things and mental wellbeing."

As part of a special program, a first-day cover stamp will be available for those who make purchases at Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay Post Offices.

U Aye Ngwe, Thaketa Township, said " My grandfather inherited collecting of postage stamps to me and since 1934-1935, I started collecting of postage stamp till today. Collecting postage stamp is my hobby and I love them. The butterfly postage stamps were issued in South East Asia countries according to machines and authorities issued new postage stamp as part of the preservation of endangered species and well-known."

The Golden Birdwing Butterfly species is found in Myanmar. It can also be found in Malay Archipelago. According to the research of Victorian scientist, the Golden Birdwing Butterfly is perfectly new and magnificent species, one of the most gorgeously colored butterflies in the world. The specimen of male insect is more than 7 inches across the wings which have velvety black and fiery orange and lactic color replacing the green of allied species. The beauty and brilliance of the insect is indescribable. For the birth work, the females lay on vine along the coastal forest.
