Health Facilities: Inspection at hospitals and meeting with health staff

Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win accompanied by the officials made inspection at the construction site of 6-storey hostel for students at University of Medicine-2 in Yangon on 6th April and coordinated the needs.

The construction of building was started in 2020-2021 Fiscal Year with the budget allotment of over 2.8 billion kyats. With a total of 192 rooms including office room and guest rooms, the new 6-storey hostel can accommodate up to 284 students.

At the Yangon University of Pharmacy, the Union Minister and party inspected the chosen site for construction of new building and fulfilled the needs.

During their arrival at new 4-storey Operation Theatre Complex in North Oakkalapa General Hospital, the Union Minister and party oversaw the implementations of Roof slab on roof top, completion progress of surgery room on 3rd floor and operation processes of surgery rooms on 2nd floor and coordinated the requirements.

The newly opened 4-storey Operation Theatre Complex was designed with vaccination rooms and medical check-up rooms on ground floor, intensive care units ICU on 1st floor, 6 Modular Operation Theatre on the 2nd and 5 Surgical Intensive Care Units on the 3rd. 

Starting from July 2023, treatment services are being provided on the ground and 2nd floors and after completion of Surgical Intensive Care Units on the 3rd floor, more surgical treatments can be able to provide.

During the inspection, the Union Minister and party met with Medical Superintendent of North Oakkalapa General Hospital, Professors/ Specialist Doctors, nurses, health care workers, Rector of the University of Medicine-2 and teaching professors/specialists, and called for collaborative efforts for acceleration of medical treatment processes.
