Inspection of National Library: MoRAC UM inspected National Library (Yangon)

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin together with the Permanent Secretary U Myint Oo and officials visited Varadaradhatu tooth relic pagoda (Yangon) and offered flowers, water and fruits and paid homage to the pagoda.

And, he toured around the pagoda and gave necessary instructions upon the reports by the pagoda Board of Trustee members.

Next, the Union Minister paid homage to Sayadaw Baddanta Pannasirilankara who passed the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida selection examination and received 16th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida title and supplemented religious matters. Then, the Union Minister donated cash and offertories to the Sayadaw.

Afterwards, the Union Minister and party inspected the National Library (Yangon) on Merchant Rd at Panbedan Township. There, they were welcomed by the staff and at Conference Hall, the Director of the National Library reported the history of library and working processes with power point presentation. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that libraries play a pivotal role for knowledge and libraries are established in every era and National Library is the highest and most perfect library across the country. He urged all to nurture good reading habits since childhood life for mental and physical strength and to uplift nationalism and patriotism through literature.

And, librarians are urged to have good personalities with patriotic spirit.  Then, the Union Minister inspected book shelf room where is conserving 500,000 books published during 1960 to 2016.

Later, the Union Minister inspected CCTV room, Data Center, Souvenir shops, Digital Library Room, Audio/Video Room and Multimedia Room while hearing reports by the officials on providing services for Digital collection of book at E-Tekkaatho Data Base, IGPublishing e-Books Database and Research4Life. Then, the Union Minister cordially greeted readers in the gerenal reading room on the second floor.
