Liberians start voting in presidential election second round

Liberians began voting on Tuesday in the second round of a presidential election pitting former football star and current head of state George Weah against political veteran Joseph Boakai who served as vice president from 2006 to 2018.

In the first round of voting on October 10, Weah had secured 43.8 percent of the vote, with more than 98 percent of the ballots counted and Boakai was trailing slightly, with 43.5 percent of the vote.
